Let’s Talk
Let’s talk! But before we dive into the eight dimensions of our well-being, let me gently ask you something:
Have you had your annual exam yet this year?
If not, that’s okay, just consider this as your loving reminder from me to you. Schedule your routine checkup with your primary care doctor and your annual women’s exam with your gynecologist today.
Why two appointments? Sure, your primary care physician (PCP) can do a pap smear—but I recommend seeing the specialist who’s trained to care for our beautiful, reproductive system. Here’s why that matters… Because if anything abnormal comes up in your results, your primary care physican will end up referring you to the gynecologist anyway. So why not go straight to the source who specializes in that area of medicine.
And let’s talk cost, if your insurance is ACA-compliant (hello, Affordable Care Act!), preventive visits are fully covered. No copay, no deductible. Just you, taking care of you.
Take this as a reminder. Quite Honestly, this reminder is for me too.
Seeing our doctors for regular wellness visits isn’t just one more thing to check off the to-do list—it’s a form of self-care, and preventive care. It’s how we stay ahead, stay informed, and stay well. I believe that preventive care is what we do daily in taking care of our well-being. Our self-care helps us stay ahead and take care of what matters most: YOU!
When a woman prioritizes her well-being, she becomes the strongest, most radiant version of herself.
And that brings me to this. Your Well-being isn’t just about doctor visits. True wellness is a daily lifestyle, and it touches every part of our lives. There are eight interconnected dimensions that make up our overall well-being? They are the keys to us living a balance life. Let’s take a quick look:
Physical
Physical well-being refers to a state of good physical health and ability to perform daily activities without fatigue or discomfort.
One of the easiest ways to move your body and stay into it is by engaging in physical activites that you enjoy. Have fun moving your body!
By prioritizing physical well-being through lifestyle choices and healthcare practices we can achieve a healthy lifestyle.
Mental
Intellectual well-being refers to the state of mental and cognitive health. Keep your mind engaged and growing.
Emotional
Emotional well-being refers to a state of positive mental health characterized by positive emotions and outlook on life. Understanding and managing your feelings with grace.
Social
Social well-being refers to a state of contentment and fulfillment in one’s social life. It encompasses the quality of relationships, social connections and a sense of belonging within a community.
Spiritual
Spiritual well-being refers to connecting to your values and purpose in life.
Vocational
Vocational well-being refers to finding meaning and satisfaction in your work.
Financial
Financial well-being refers to to asking smart decisions to feel secure and empowered.
Environmental
Environmental well-being refers to the state of living in a caring and healthy environment. Caring for the spaces and world around you.
All of these matter. And another thing to keep in mind is…..
If any one of these areas is neglected over time, it can affect your overall health and happiness. They’re all connected, and creating balance is the secret sauce to thriving.
Here’s my challenge for you, this month, choose one area to focus on. Just one small, intentional shift can make a big impact. We taking one step and one day at at time.
Cheers to our well-being, alignment, and a new month
You’ve got this. #Selfloveherfirst
